Upon reading the 9/11 commission report discussing how members of Al Qaeda planned their attack on the United States, its amazing to read how much a group of people can hate one country, a country that provided many with an education.
Khalid Sheikh Mohammed (KSM) is described as an terrorist entrepreneur. He played a role in the World trade Center bombing in 1993, multiple attacks on U.S. embassy’s worldwide and planned the 9/11 attack. He had a background of multiple areas of education and even went to school in America. KSM had said that his hatred did not stem from the time he spent in America when he was a student “but rather from his violent disagreement with U.S. foreign policy favoring Israel”. Its interesting to read about a man that appeared as if he would’ve had a bright and fulfilling future due to all his studies and his leadership turn out to be a terrorist that had consistently planned attacks on the U.S. He travelled the world planning attacks and making connections for future attacks.
Although KSM had many accomplices, like middle man Hambali and fellow terrorist Abd al Rahim al Nashiri, KSM seemed to like working soon his own and working on his own terrorist ideas. His plan on 9/11 was to use 9 hijacked planes and crash them all into an important U.S. building while 1 plane, the one he would take over, would be landed at a U.S. airport. He would kill all men passengers and then release a video to the government in order to “deliver a speech excoriating U.S. support for Israel, the Philippines, and repressive governments in the Arab world.”
Its amazing to see how much time and effort went into planning just one attack. Their connections to other terrorists groups around the world make things so difficult because you can never know who is where at what time and for what. The amount of money that they’re able to spend on one attack is astounding. It’s as if they have a never ending supply of money thats always available to them.
In the end, its sad that so many people can have so much hate in their hearts and pass that on to other people that will continue that hate.
